Ithaca is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Ithaca follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I just reserved two lanes the other day from 7-9, and my party was 10 minutes late so Jason, the nicest man working the front desk, told me we could stay till 9:10. When you find it routine to say to a guy (Jason) how awesome he is, you know he's really committed to making your stay enjoyable. Great spirit, and always coming around to make sure we are comfortable. Not to mention the alley has such an old-timey feel to it, just an overall great experience. Will be reserving more parties here for sure.

For those of you who haven't been to Helen Newman in a while, I would love to keep this gem to myself but they deserve all the business Ithaca can throw their way. Apparently Cornell is investing in a bygone past time. The lanes have been totally revamped, the pin setters are all brand new and work amazingly well. Not only that but the prices are still what you would expect, totally affordable for an entire group of teens (last minute birthday party) and the staff were awesome, happy to accommodate the food we brought in, quickly making us feel welcome despite our questionable choice to "just show up". Keep an eye on the website, the hours are accurate and while they have a reservation form I was told that staff is in by 2:30 and happy to discuss over the phone. So glad to have a fun spot back not only for my kids but for rainy days and staff gatherings.

7 of the lanes were broken, we called ahead of time to ask about availability and they said they had spots open but when we got there they had none for us, when we finally got to bowl the lane wouldn’t return out balls, one of our balls damaged the lane and they blamed the broken lane on us and then made us leave and pay without even finishing one round. The manager stomped around a lot, yelled at us and was overall rude.

The bowling alley itself is quite old, you'll have to tally scored manually. Doesn't have many lighter bowling balls that are lighter for girls (10 and under). Shoe rentals are free with a student ID. Soft drinks available for purchase. Friendly staff.

This is such a good thing to do with friends if you are bored. It’s really cheap too which is really jive. It’s about $3 per game but a lot of the days you get a free game if anyone scores a strike! It also has a nice bar and pizza which makes it good for parties or another small events. The only thing is that the building is pretty old so the scoring isn’t automatic and the lanes sometimes glitch but the staff is really helpful and gracious when that happens.
